The Bellingen Chamber of Commerce annual Crazy Day for 2010 is not far away – It’s all happening on Saturday 19^th June and we’d love you to be a part of it.

All businesses receive some benefit from Crazy Day as it brings many, many people into Bellingen, although some do receive more immediate benefit than others. That’s why we have 3 levels of sponsorship available – Major Sponsor, Minor Sponsor, and Supporting Business.

This year we again plan to run promoti0ns on Prime TV, NBN TV, The Coffs Advocate, and the Bellingen Shire Courier Sun. There are great opportunities for you to promote your business in conjunction with our campaign as the Coffs Advocate and the Bellingen Shire Courier Sun offer a generous feature page on the Wednesday before Crazy Day.

The amount of exposure you can get for your business is only limited by your imagination and your enthusiasm. This year we are returning to the ever popular street stall in front of your business with “CRAZY Specials” all covered by the Chamber’s insurance policy.

So, go crazy, and think of a promotional idea that will give your business an edge on Crazy Day. Many businesses offer crazy discounts on Crazy Day but you can come up with lots of other crazy ideas that will be very attractive to the thousands of people that flock to Bellingen for this special day each year.

Buskers are encouraged, but must register for allocated places.

Buskers can perform on Hyde St between Belmech & NAB to the west and Yellow Shed & Golf Club to the east as well as Church St from northern footpath to Nortec & Edible Media in the south providing they perform on the footpath and “do inhibit pedestrian movement, particularly adjacent to areas of traffic flow” and “leave a minimum pedestrian corridor of 2.0m wide and 2.4m high on the side of the footpath closest to the road unless otherwise authorised by council”

The Bellingen Chamber of Commerce will present a diverse set of local speakers this ‘Winter’ Breakfast.

Andrew Sommerville of HumanHand HR Help will present Planning for Success

and

Youth delegation from Bellingen Primary School will bring us up to date with what they gained from a recent Youth Leadership program that they attended with financial assistance from the Bellingen Chamber.

Andrew Sommerville is Managing Director of HumanHand Pty Ltd. He is a certified HR Coach, internal quality auditor and professional member of Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI). Andrew works with local small to medium business owners and managers to position them for future growth. Andrew partners with the business to work through the challenges and ensure compliance, performance and staffing management using benchmarking, coaching, planning and a range of innovative solutions and tools.

Previously Andrew has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Open Arms Care Inc., as well as Executive Officer, Operations Manager and Admin Manager positions. Andrew has extensive experience with Community Services as well as small business and government sectors. As a Member of the HR Coach Network, Andrew has access to extensive research which has been the catalyst in providing innovative solutions to clients linking employee performance to profit.

Andrew moved to Belingen with his wife and children in1990 and has since become involved with many community groups. He is the new Director of New Generations for Bellingen Rotary, coordinating the exchange student program; was Chair of the Children’s Centre; is Secretary of Grafton Regional committee of Kairos, Prison Ministry Australia, also led and trained 34 volunteers for project in Grafton jail. Bellingen residents will perhaps know him best wearing his ‘other’ hat, Promised Land Worm Products.

Bellingen Primary School Leaders at Chamber Breakfast !

The Bellingen Chamber of Commerce ‘Winter’ Breakfast will introduce four local young ‘leaders in training’ from Bellingen Primary School, Meg Galloway, Lily Sheather, Tom Tuohy and Tyren Phillips-Cooke. All four took part in the National Young Leaders Day at the Brisbane Convention Centre with financial support from the Bellingen Chamber. And to help move us forward in the business world, Andrew Sommerville of HumanHand HR Help will present ‘Planning for Success’.

Our four young leaders will give us their perspective of what they gained from the trip, the dynamic speakers and the interaction they had with so many other young people from diverse areas and backgrounds.

Forty two students from across the Bellingen Dorrigo Learning Community (BDLC) attended the conference, run by the Halogen Foundation, where they heard diverse speakers talk on the qualities of leadership. Mike Martin, CEO Halogen Foundation spoke on the power and influence of leadership; Tim Maddren and Stevie Nicholson, Hi 5, on individual thought and action plus giving back to the community; Geoff Wilson, adventurer, the importance of having belief and trust in yourself and Marayke Ionkers, para Olympian, on putting your mind on the goal.

The Chamber is proud to support our youth in their endeavours to gain the broad experience that will enhance their lives. Come and join us for a positive youth experience and also learn how to plan for success in your business !

Dear Guy and the Bellingen Chamber of Commerce,

We would like to send our sincere thanks for your support for our “Plant 350 Plants around Bellingen” day. We very much appreciated the donation that the Chamber made towards the purchase of plants. This really contributed to helping make the day such a successful one.

We were very happy to have had approximately 300 people turn out to take part in our big 350 photo. This photo is part of the thousands of photos from around the world that are being presented to the United Nations and to the leaders from around the world who will be deciding on the future of the planet.

Following the photo session, all the participants were very happy to take their plants home to plant. We also planted approximately 60 plants the next day during our monthly Landcare working bee. It’s nice to know that Bellingen is now 350 plants greener!

Thanks again for your support, and we look forward to working with you and the Chamber of Commerce again soon.
