Celebrating Grafton produce for Gate to Plate

Have you had breakfast yet? If not you’d better grab something to eat because this story will get your taste buds fired up.

The Clarence Valley’s third annual Gate 2 Plate celebrates all food grown locally, and is supported by the not-for-profit Gallery Foundation.

Miranda Saunders went to the launch for a sneak peek, and a taste, of what will be on offer at the September event in Grafton.

The Clarence Valley is best known for its beautiful beaches and green valleys, but over the last 3 years The Gallery Foundation has been giving everyone the chance to experience our regional cuisine and put our local producers on the menu. From Yamba prawns and Wooli oysters to Brangus beef and Dorrigo spuds, you will finally be able to sample it all!

On Sunday 26th September 2010, the 3rd annual ‘Gate to Plate’ an innovative regional event celebrating Clarence Valley produce, will take place again at the historic Barn located in the grounds of the Grafton Showground.

Showcased through producer stalls and a 6 course degustation lunch, this event offers the opportunity to bring local produce from the gate to your plate – It doesn’t get any fresher than this!

Mark your diaries for the 2011 Gate to Plate. Bigger and better (hard to believe it could get any better). This year there is a Food Trail and Masterclass led by Simon Thomsen on the Saturday, that will see you tasting your way across the Clarence Valley, finishing with a masterclass featuring Tweed Valley Whey and Robert Channon wines. More information at http://www.gatetoplate.com.au including all the details on the 6 course degustation lunch on the Sunday, taking place at The Barn, Grafton Showground. Yum !
