A picnic atmosphere prevails in the picturesque grounds of Gleniffer Hall, so folding chairs, rug etc are the go.

For a relaxing day of good fresh food, regional wines, great music and cooking demonstrations in a picturesque outdoor setting where the Bellinger and Kalang rivers meet the sea, make sure you put Sunday 2 September in your diary.

The festival on Sunday 2 September runs from 10am to 4pm and will feature more than 60 stalls selling a diverse range of cuisines, produce, wines and boutique beers. Whilst adults enjoy music, wine and food – kids have their own entertainment with a jumping castle, sand wizardry, bungy jumping, plaster painting and face painting. Around the town the local shops are open, craft tables are set up around the streets and vintage cars are on display.

The Urunga Mylestom Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the New Year with
a unique artistic approach. It has invited seven visiting artists, who have
studied and shown in Italy and France and who regularly paint together, to
exhibit alongside eight of its very own professional artists from Urunga,
Mylestom and Raleigh on the 12th of January 2013.

The exhibition kicks off with a cocktail function open to art enthusiasts, locals and visitors on Saturday the 12th of January at the Literary Institute Hall in Bowra St, complete with string trio, complimentary drinks and canapés

Eclectic Night of Music & Art

Roots Records celebrate their first birthday this December and to mark the occasion they’re hosting an evening of fine music and art at the Bellingen Memorial Hall. The event is headlined by eclectic world music group Tibet2Timbuk2, supported by Master Bansuri Flutist Taro Terahara, and includes a one-off photography exhibition by renowned film maker Albert Falzon.

Rollicking Tibetan folk, afro-reggae guitar grooves and intricate Indian tabla. Sounds like an unlikely combination right? Well, think again! Tibet2Timbuk2 fuse sounds from various parts of the globe seamlessly resulting with a sound that is truly out of this world. After extensive touring in Japan, the Brisbane based band are back home and play Bellingen Memorial Hall as part of their East Coast tour. Band members Tenzin Choegyal, Marcello Milani and Shen Flindell are delighted to be bringing their unique sound to the Mid North Coast. These three versatile and talented musicians share melody, harmony, bass and percussion roles making for a performance of great diversity. At one moment their melodic grooves get you moving the next you’ll be in a blissful meditative state.

Tibet2Timbuk2 are supported by Master Bansuri Flutist Taro Terahara, one of the leading musicians in the thriving and highly competitive Indian classical music scene in Japan. Terahara has dedicated his life to the Bansuri and has spent time in India studying under great masters. His craft has taken him all over the world including performances at Woodford Folk Festival and the Festival of Tibet.

Albert Falzon is best known for his contribution to the Australian Surf Industry, in particular his cult classic 70’s surf film Morning of The Earth. He has also produced several documentaries about cultural festivals in far flung destinations around the world. Falzon’s photography exhibition showcases stunning, thought provoking images captured from his journey to remote locations in both Tibet and Timbuktu during the early 80’s.

Wired is a great afternoon of live entertainment on the riverfront at Urunga, as part of the Bellingen Shire Youth celebrations.

There will a huge line-up of local young musicians, dancers, Martial Arts, singers and MCs including: Cut loose, Off the Grid, Gosh in Ru, Barefoot Fiddlers, Never One Day,

Wired will kick off at 1:00pm at the Morgo Street Reserve Stage (opposite the Ocean View Hotel), Urunga, finishing at 5:00 pm.

Bring a picnic or just enjoy the sausage sizzle and refreshments provided by Reconnect whilst checking out free entertainment. This event is strictly drug & alcohol free.

There will also be a youth service info stall with people there from different groups to answer all your questions and provide resources on a variety of youth issues.
