How to nominate for a scholarship

Apprentices have to be nominated by their employer and trade teacher or registered training organisation. If you employ an apprentice or you’re a trade teacher and know an apprentice who has aptitude for their trade but needs some financial help, you can download a nomination form and booklet outlining the Ben Chifley scholarship guidelines or contact one of the State Training Services centres and ask for one to be sent to you.

Equity criteria could also be used to demonstrate hardship eg Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, people with a disability, mature-aged people

“aptitude” for vocational education and training could be demonstrated by past performance in the apprenticeship, participation in trade skills competitions, references from employers attesting to the nominee’s skills, school results or assessments in trade subjects, examples of the nominee’s work, level of experience

skills shortage areas are those trade occupations identified in the National Skills Needs List.

Please contact one of our offices and discuss your nomination.

Nomination closing

Nominations close on 31 May 2010. Nominees must be in the first year of their apprenticeship in 2010 to qualify.

Message from Tursa

TURSA is pleased to announce that we have been successful in gaining funding to deliver the Diploma in Management and the Diploma in Retail Management commencing in 2009.

Please refer to the attached information sheets for specific information on the courses. Also attached is the enrolment application form.

The Diploma program provides the core leadership competencies required by contemporary managers. It is particularly appropriate for those with operational or technical backgrounds who now find they are managing others. It can also be an excellent induction module for newly promoted staff, as well as a valuable resource for the more experienced manager

Each student receives a comprehensive study materials package for each unit. This includes a prescribed textbook, and a package of printed study materials. In addition to tutorial participation and printed study materials, students have access to an online website dedicated to each unit of study. Face to face and online classes are not compulsory for students studying by distance education however there will be fortnightly tutorials held for local managers.

Blending theory with practice, this program focuses on workplace learning to ensure its relevance to your particular situation and business.

Places are limited. Applications close Thursday the 19th November.

This is a great opportunity to gain funded training for the development of your workforce.

For further information please email training@tursa.com.au or call 1800266425

I thankyou for taking the time to look through my resume which you will find attached.

The type of work I am looking for is Administration focusing a the financial side of things.

I have exceptional knowledge of QuickBooks and love working with the program. I have had basic training in payroll using MYOB and found it a similar program and wouldn’t have any trouble picking it up..

As I mentioned during our conversation I am looking into studying for either my Certificate IV in Financial Service or Certificate III in Business Administration via correspondence. I may commence this in January 2010.

I have the capability to multi task and have had to step up as Manager of a wholesale company when the director was absent. For this role I maintained a level head and prioritised situations when they came to hand. I controlled all aspects of the business from taking sales orders, picking of the orders, organising deliveries through to invoicing.

Ideally I would love a job with security such as a bank, school, council or any government department however, I am looking at alternative avenues.

My last position ceased when work for my husband ended in the Northern Territory. We did not want to move anymore so the family relocated here which is where we are staying.

I thankyou once again for taking the time and should you hear of anything that may arise I would appreciate it if you kept me in mind.

Kind Regards

Donna Phelps
