BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY & OUR LIVING COAST

The Bellingen Chamber of Commerce Spring Breakfast has, once again, two very interesting local speakers to help expand your understanding of local issues and how they could impact your business.

portraitPia Dollman, Project Officer, Our Living Coast (a Regional Sustainability Initiative) will bring us up to date with what this project encompasses, current involvement with the community, government programs for business sustainability and how all this could impact your business.

Pia Dollman has lived in this area since 1982 and is well known in the Bellingen community for her work as Landcare Coordinator over ten years. She has now taken that knowledge and experience into the Shires of Coffs Harbour City and Nambucca as well as Bellingen with the focus on sustainable living.

As project officer, Pia designs and implements a program for community engagement and education on sustainable living. This covers a workshop program on related topics such as renewable energy, gardening etc, a workshop series designed by CSIRO, called Energymark, a website and a business sustainability program. Pia engages with people to support their learning to make the changes they decide are necessary on this pathway.

Pia completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Parks, Recreation & Heritage at Charles Sturt University and is now also the chairperson and media coordinator of the Bellinger Health Action Group. In her spare time, Pia likes to spend time on the beach, go horse riding and nurture the friendships in her life.

HOW DO INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES & FASTER BROADBAND SERVICES AFFECT YOUR BUSINESS ?

The Bellingen Chamber of Commerce has invited Anthony Jephcott, Telstra Business Centre Coffs Coast, to help unravel the complexities at the upcoming Spring Breakfast.

A Jephcott phone_away v smallAnthony Jephcott and his wife Casey are the licensees of the Telstra Business Centre, Coffs Coast as well as the Telstra Store, Park Beach Plaza. They saw the opportunity to develop and grow a business on the Coffs coast and bought both businesses in July 2009. In the last 12 months the businesses have seen some phenomenal growth from 12 local employees to a team of 28 including 6 Telstra Business Certified Solutions Professionals, experts in tailoring communication solutions for businesses on the Mid-North Coast. This success they put down to the fact that the businesses are locally owned and run and so have a better understanding of what local businesses and retail customers want.

Anthony’s presentation will focus on local infrastructure upgrades that have taken place in the Bellingen region and the new faster broadband speeds plus the runout of the national broadband network. He will also cover how new technology is helping local businesses to increase productivity, shorten decision times, save costs and considerably improve customer service.

“We can help with a complete range of business technology solutions to customers; from mobile phones to more complex office phone systems,” Anthony says.

Being a local, Anthony is also heavily involved in the local community and proudly sponsors local Clubs, local schools, local sports associations, rotary Coffs Coast and more.
